Places to go swimming in and around Barcelona

In summer in Barcelona, beginning late May to early October, it becomes very warm in the city (much like all of Spain). You’re looking at around 30 degrees at the peak of summer, and of course, as lovely as it is, often we do need to cool down!

There are plenty of places you can stay cool in Barcelona, but our favourite choice is besides a glorious swimming pool. Luckily Barcelona hosts a load of public swimming pools and waterparks where you can chill out and enjoy the sun. Keep reading for our list of the best places to go swimming in Barcelona!

Here’s a list of the best swimming pools in Barcelona.

Centre Esportiu Municipal Parc de la Ciutadella

Just beside the Parc de Ciutadella you will find the rooftop pool of the Ciutadella Municipal Sports Centre. This pool is long and shallow making it a great choice for families with children, and the place itself offers a calm and welcoming space. This is a great place to chill out and read a book, sunbathe, have a quick dip or a picnic.

You can buy entrance tickets for around 17 euros for adults and just about 8 euros for children.

PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park

This is an incredible water park, perfect for a day out as a family or just to have some fun with friends. Just outside of Barcelona, over an hour on the train you can get to Tarragona, where you will find the PortAventura water park. You will find a wave pool, a lazy river, water slides and an indoor area with kids attractions.

The park is 34,000m2 and tickets are just 29€ for adults and 25€ for kids. There is also a PortAventura theme park, for which you can buy tickets separately or you can buy them as a package to have access to both parks!

Illa FantasiaIlla Fantasia

This is another aqua complex fit for all ages which has a wave pool, water games, rapids and a pirate themed maze. They have 22 slides and 3 large swimming pools, perfect for keeping the whole family cool this summer.

Tickets are 28€ for adults and 17€ for children – you can book online to skip-the-line.

Club Natació Atlètic- Barceloneta

Club natació Atlètic- Barcelona is located near to Sant Sebastià, featuring both indoor and outdoor pools, a spa and restaurant. They also have public pools, hammocks with views of the Mediterranean sea and architectural Sant Sebastià iron tower.

Whether you’re looking for just a splash about or are a serious swimmer looking for some practice, club Natació Atlètic have everything you may need.

Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc 

The Montjuïc Municipal Swimming Pool has one of the most amazing panoramic views of Barcelona. We recommend you climb to the top to admire the views and the architecture from above. Following this if you head down to the Piscina Municipal you can take a dip and cool off whilst enjoying stunning views over the city.

Llac de la Creueta del Coll 

For something slightly different, why not try out a swim in the pool at the Creueta del Coll park. It costs not much more than one euro and will reward your mind and body. You will find parasols, a lawn area, hammocks and canoes.

Ruta dels Set Gorgs de Campdevànol 

Take a 2hr train from Barcelona and walk for 30 minutes to find yourself in an incredible circuit of 7 beautiful natural pools with waterfalls and swimming spots. The journey is 100% worth it for you to experience a fairytale like day swimming under waterfalls, enjoying a picnic with your friends or family and walking around the beautiful area of Campdevànol.
